Is it bad that I want to start every blog post with "Sorry I haven't written in a while?". Ok, no more guilt. I've been Facebooking, napping, making stuff out of metal, and did I mention napping? Oh, and I'm also growing a person.
Meet BabyX:
I'm still getting used to the idea of being pregnant and it's definitely not all sunshine and puppies like they tell you. But so far, it's not so bad. I say that now at 13 weeks, when I still mostly fit into my own clothes. Ask me again in a few months.
I'm definitely one of those people who has a soundtrack for different parts of my life - usually whatever I'm listening to at the time. I'm happy to say that Star Anna and the Laughing Dogs have released their new album, The Only Thing That Matters. Go download it now - it's REALLY awesome.
I was lucky to get a pre-release rough copy about a month ago, so I've been listening to it non-stop and I LOVE IT. And BabyX will have heard them live quite a few times by the time he/she is born, too :)
So anyway, that's what's been going on here. Oh, and I already got my first piece of unsolicited advice last week at lunch for eating sushi (cooked, but yes, it had some fish eggs as decoration. And I'm willing to accept the risk.). I need to practice my stink-eye and sarcastic retorts for the future situations I'm sure will come up. Any ideas?
Yeah!!!!! Congrats!!!Get your rest now, you will wish for it later.
ReplyDeleteI have always wanted to try, with a totally deadpan expression "I am not pregnant." Can you imagine their embarrassment?
ReplyDeleteAdrianne - that's a good one, and will be especially effective once I *look* pg. But in this case, I had just told my lunch-mates that I was, so I don't think that would have worked :D
ReplyDeleteCongratulations Anandi!
ReplyDeletecongrats Anandi! I ate sushi (yes raw) right up until the day before I delivered. Imagine me sitting there 9 mo. pregnant (and HUGE - I gained 70 lbs, but that's another story). When the couple at the table kept staring at me, I smiled back - then they asked "so, when are you due?" I nswered "Tomorrow at 4:30." (planned c-section) That shut them up. The owner of the sushi restaurant grinned from ear to ear. My daughter has been eating sushi like a pro since she was a toddler. No ill effects from the sushi for either one of us! If you still get the stink-eye, just kick into scientific speak about why raw sushi is potentially harmful (parasites) for ALL humans - if you don't trust the restaurant, you shouldn't be eating there.
ReplyDeleteCongrats, Anandi! I never really grew up wanting kids, but now I have two and can't imagine not having them. Hope you have an easy pregnancy, a quick labor, and a sleepy baby! :)
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!!!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations!
ReplyDeleteMy favorite part of lunch was the shocked and stunned look on our faces when you casually mentioned being pregnant.
ReplyDeleteBut way happy for you...
Congrats!
